We have planned our field trip to COSI this year and the date is April 26th. Below is a link to Sign Up Genius should you be interested in chaperoning. More information will follow regarding specifics so look for that later in March.
We have been going gangbusters on Figurative Language this week! The kids were introduced to alliteration, personification, similes, and onomatopoeia. The goal is to be able to recognize these in books we read and then be able to use these in the writing we do.

Kids had to hunt through books to find examples of onomatopoeia and then chart them. They then picked their favorite one to decorate our door :)
In math we are continuing to work on fractions , specifically how to identify that fraction when presented with a denominator that is lower than the amount in the total group. The kids make fractionpillars and kites while practicing adding fractions with like denominators. Next week we will continue with comparing fractions and looking at equivalent fractions.
The investigation this week was to create a 8 row 8 column checkerboard and figure out the perimeter of 1 side , then the entire perimeter and area. They then had to look to see if there was a relationship between the two numbers (ie 32 is half of 64) .
Perimeter and area are always fun to figure out if you use your name!!
