And so now the Rock and Roll part begins! I think I may have too many picgtures so I'll split them up into 2 different sets. You'll see Riley making a toast and everyone drinking their special punch, several twirls, lots of air guitar, dancing to Lynard Skynard's "Freebird", Kiss' " Gonna rock and roll all night", Led Zepplin and more. Thanks to everyone for making this a huge success especially Lesley and Aimee!
Here are the "official" portraits taken by Mrs. Fair. Big thanks to her for doing this and for printing out the pictures you got yesterday :) They look so awesome with the backdrop! Here is the long awaited project the kids did showing what they learned during our unit on "Yesterday,Today, and Tomorrow"
Tomorrow is the big day! On Thursday, we will be going with Miss Nowland's class to Sunrise to sing a few holiday songs for the residents. We leave here at 8:45 and will start singing around 9:15, departing at 9:30 to be back here at school by 9:45. Parents are welcome to join us but I will tell you that the other classes that have already gone said the space is very tight, just in case you are a little claustrophobic! Please have your child wear jeans or leggings and red, green, or white shirt/sweater/polo so we look all spiffed up for our concert. The trip is close but the weather promises to be cold so please make sure kiddos are dressed for the walk!
Today the invitations to the Ball were sent home. There were several rolling around on the rug so hopefully they made it home! If not, here is a copy of what it said. Note that this a fun cumulating event for the Fairy Tale unit. Kiddos do not have to dress up as something from a Fairy Tale, but can if they want to. We are just looking for spiffed up attire so no need to go out and spend money if you already have something or can borrow an item from a friend. Boys look great in just a button down and jeans, maybe even a tie or bowtie. Girls look great in a holiday or summer party dress or flower girl outfit. Church clothes or clothes from a wedding are great for this event. Old crowns or Halloween costumes for princesses or knights are great but not necessary. I myself will be wearing a crown and a party dress. Make up is not necessary! The girls of course wanted to wear make up and I told them lip gloss is fine! I will have glittery powder so they can use that too if they wish. Our room moms will be setting up a Volunteer Spot for food items and the decorating committee (to set up the lights and such the day before). How awesome is this?! The kids did such a great job today at the assembly and were so proud of earning their stickers to be able to have such a cool reward. Homework help if you are interested...Math homework today is again using the number line to add a one digit number to a two digit number. I have broken it down to the steps we do in class so you can see how it is done. Sorry I don't have video capabilities...I am working on securing the money for that! Welcome to December and almost the end of the year! I just posted the December calendar, newsletter, and book report. These are all coming home in paper form but in case you misplace one you've got a copy in the parent section of my blog.
I also wanted to mention that this morning there was a snafu with my sub. They were having trouble locating the substitute and had to move other substitutes around to cover the class. The kids were great and waited patiently....earning 3 stickers for their great behavior. This sent us up to 49 stickers, which when we added the one from music, we earned our SECOND REWARD!! Woo hoo!! The kids will get to sit in chairs for the next assembly which is the Christmas Concert! What an amazing group of kids I've got. :) |
