Wow. April 9th and we are getting snow again- the same day I decide to change the banner on top from winter to spring!
I've got lots of fun pictures to share with you this weekend! Despite the gloomy, rainy and cold weather out side this past week, things have been humming along in our classroom. In Daily 5, kids continue to enjoy reading their reading in books such as Chasing Vermeer a mystery about a missing painting, Me....Jane about Jane Goodall, Rosie Revere, Engineer a story about perseverance and using ones imagination, and a sweet tale of a lion who loves to listen to stories in the book, Library Lion.
Some new things were added to Words Their Way to spice up the task of practicing their words...

In science the kids have really enjoyed learning about weather, the water cycle, and clouds. Next week week we start small group research on severe weather and Chris Bradley from channel 10 will be coming in to talk with us about the weather.
The weather test will be next Thursday and a review will be coming home on Monday. In case it doesn't reach home, here is the image....
In math we have also added new items to BUILD including learning how to play the game RACKO! Right now in Stepping Stones we continue to practice 3 digit subtraction with and without regrouping, multiplication and we'll introduce equal sharing (division) at the end. After that we are going to put Stepping Stones aside and do some fun projects that include, angles, types of triangles, symmetry, flips, slides, and turns, median, mode, mean, range, subtracting across zeros , fractions (adding and subtracting with common denominator) and math with decimals like money.
Now for the most exciting thing! Outside out window for the past week we have watched as they put up the new playground equipment. It has been very loud , busy and distracting out our window but the kids did very well staying on task, with a little help from the shades drawn ;)
