I am happy to share that Ms. Nowland our newest second grade teacher has created a help document for those who are unsure of how to proceed with regards to the spelling packet. I have attached it here in a button but also have it in the parent resource area along with the answers for quicker access. It breaks down each page and what the expectations are. I have also added an answer packet so you know what to expect. I was unable to edit her Google doc so there are 3 differences I wanted to point out.
"Words missed"- these could possibly be on the next test but they will definitely be on upcoming tests. Please still continue to work with your child on these words.
"Super Speller" - everyone will get the same amount. They are fixed. They are not on the test but are great words to stretch their spelling and are usually vocabulary words for things we are learning in school.
"Word Preview"- this will always be filled out at school
We will usually fill out two or three pages of the back together at school and then send the rest home to be finished up over the course of the week. Once we get to the end of October, all 6 pages in the back will be done at home.
And again please have your child complete each of the pages. I had several kiddos put down 3 or 4 or 6 words for a couple of pages. All 15 spots (I told them they could ask for help for any of this) on "Add It" and "Find It" should be filled in.
If you need any help please don't hesitate to email me!
