Wow.....was Friday awesome!!
First we did the OREO project (thanks Lesley and Rishanna for coming in to help ) which was one of the best math projects I think I have ever done.
To get ready for this day we practiced a few days before learning how to use a calculator and crunch the numbers. Then to make it more fun I had them collect data that was more personal- pencils. They really liked when they counted the number of pencils they had in their desk and then they practiced figuring out the median, mode, mean and range. Can you believe we actually had 0 at one end and 14 as the highest number of pencils in one desk?!
On Friday the kids were ready and so excited to crunch the numbers for the Oreo stacking competition. The kids were so engaged and loved every minute of it, not even realizing that it was math they were doing :) Hopefully they had fun stories to share on how they stacked their cookies!
Then we had Mr. Bradley come to visit and share his job of being a Meteorologist. The kids loved sharing with him all they had learned these past few weeks!
